Management: Leadership Style
Assignment in management Question Assume that the creation of the GM-operations position was a good decision. What leadership style and type of individual would you try to place in this position? Answer The firm hired brad Howser who seemed to be precise confident and appropriate to the job with an auto craft experience. As a general manager-operation a person was responsible for finding good relationship with customers, imperious the bud accept, and office operations. But the kind of leadership style Howser has was autocratic leadership. He made plans and decisions on his own way but never listen to his employees and clients, which the companys needed in order to form a good organization or leadership. Due to his lack of management skills, he put the firm into risk. For me, a type of individual leadership is transformational leadership because a leader the one who motivates people to go beyond their interest for the good of the group. Transformational Leaders are oftentimes chari smatic leader, who succeed through a belief in themselves rather than a belief in others. n order to have a leadership style the leaders need to the full to understand business situation and creating new strategies, forward-looking and competent. And she or he needs employees support to implement his or her goal. And I want the democratic leadership to put in this position because the people have a more participating role in the decision reservation process. One person retains final say over all decisions but allows others to share insight and ideas. The good leader is one who knows real sagacity of the companies culture, understanding business, establishing new business strategies, and inspiring which motivate employees work hard.First, in order to have a good leadership style or manager needs to task oriented which has to keep track on how well the workers doing their job. Second they are proactive rather than reactive if any problem comes on your company, this proactive people can look forward to solve it. Third, they must know themselves what is their weakness and strength, they inspire people to be the better(p) they can be by being a mentor, and they play to their strengths and train to improve their weaknesses.Lastly, they need to know the job description of general manager the budget, community relation, day to day grill, gross revenue retention of sale 10% and customer base expansion. On the other hand the leaders need to give them freedom because it makes them to work hard on their own and be confident on what they are doing. Let the employees motivate how to share their valuable ideas for the good outcome of the company. Having the right team behind your company, with fully motivated staff and great leadership, qualities can only enhance your companys reputation and productivity. This is a very open and collegial style of cart track a team. Ideas move freely amongst the group and are discussed openly. Everyone is given a seat at the table, and d iscussion is relatively free-flowing the democratic leadership style is the best for this company. If I were Howser I would simply pay attention to my employees, because employees are the best asset to the company, I need to take care of them in order to get their loyalty to work, and finally, if I succeeded to get their loyalty, the company would be more profitable and expand their market faster.

Position of women in 16 and 17 century Essay
Women were challenged with expressing themselves in a patriarchal system that generally refused to admit merit to womens views. Cultural and g overnmental events during these centuries increased attention to womens issues such as procreation reform. Though modern feminism was non-existent.The social structure women limited opportunities for involvement they served largely as man geezerhoodrs of their households. Women were pass judgment to focus on practical domestic pursuits and activities that encouraged the betterment of their families, and more particularly, their husbands. Education for women was not supportharmful to the traditional female virtues of innocence and morality. Women who spoke out against the patriarchal system of gender roles, or any injustice, ran the risk of being exiled from their communities, or worse vocal unmarried women in particular were the targets of witch-hunts.The seventeenth century women continued to play a significant, though not acknowledged, r ole in economic and political structures through their primarily domestic activities. They often acted as counselors in the home, tempering their husbands words and actions. Women were discouraged from this instant expressing political views counter to their husbands or to broadly condemn established systems nevertheless, many women were able to make ordinary their private views through the veil of personal, religious writings.MarriageThe seventeenth century represents a fascinating point in time of English history, drawing the attention of whole generations of historians. This turbulent age saw three major events that had a deep impact on England s political as well as social intentthe English Revolution, the Restoration of the Stuarts in 1660 and the Glorious Revolution in 1688. Amidst the turmoil of the events, peoples commonplace lives unfolded. While it was mens preoccupation to keep the countrys political and economic affairs going, women had an indispensable, though far l ess public, part to play. This paper aims at providing an outline of the seventeenth-century English spousal relationship, viewed from the womans perspective. It touches upon topics such as concluding marriages, basic marriage values, duties of a married woman and possibilities of divorce. Attention is give to the areas in which theseventeenth-century reality was different from todays. In seventeenth-century England, marriage and sexual morals played a far more important social role than nowadays. A family centred around a married compeer represented the basic social, economic and political unit. In the Stuart period, a husbands rule over his wife, children and servants was seen as an analogy to the kings reign over his peoplea manifestation of a hierarchy constituted by God. A woman was regarded as the weaker vessel (a phrase taken from the novel Testament)a creature physically, intellectually, morally and even spiritually inferior to a man therefore, the man had a right to domi nate her (Fraser 1981 1).In a society strongly influenced by Puritan values, sexual fair play and the status of a married person gave a woman respectability and social prestige. This, together with the fact that it was very difficult for women to find ways of making an independent living, meant that securing a husband was a guinea pig of great importance. Theoretically, it was contingent for two people to marry very young. The minimum legal age was 12 years for women and 14 years for men. In addition, it was possible for the couple to get engaged at the age of 7, with the right to break off the engagement on reaching the minimum age of consent (Stone 1965 652). However, early on marriages were rather rarethe average age of the newlyweds was about 25 years.Interestingly, the basic requirement for a lawfully valid marriage was not a formal consecration in a church, but the completion of a marriage contract, commonly called spousals. Spousals were an act in which the bride and gr oom said their vows in the present tenseper verba de prasenti (Ingram 1987 126). In a majority of cases, this procedure was accompanied by a church ceremony (banns). Yet if the marriage was concluded without witnesses and not consecrated in a church, it had the same legal validity. This practice had existed in England since the duodecimal century and lasted till 1753. Not having to go through a church ceremony made it possible for lovers to marry secretly, without the knowledge of their parents. In this way, they could escape the dynastic scheming of their families.

Moliere the Misanthrope
The Misanthrope Molieres play The Misanthrope is a comedy that represents social satire, satirizing the conventions of the society which Moliere lived in and observed. Perhaps the character of Alceste outmatch demonstrates the elements of comedy and tragedy that co-exist in Molieres play. Alceste, after all, realizes his jealous nature makes him a comic figure. In fact, humankinds tragedy as expressed by Moliere is that it cannot admit how funny, insincere, and ironic most of its actions and views are.Because of this, Molieres play is much more comedy than tragedy. Alceste represents an everyman of his social milieu and culture in Molieres perception. He would like to be honest but knows he lives in a social system that is dishonest. Alceste chastises Philinte because of his hypocritical behavior toward strangers, who he hugs and professes great love for but then reverses his position the minute they are gone. As Alceste tells him, Once the mans back is turned, you cease to love hi m, / And speak with absolute indifference of him By God, I say its base and scandalous / To falsify the hearts affections thus / If I caught myself behaving in such a way, / Id hang myself for shame, without delay (Moliere 17). While the above manipulation of ones fellow man may seem sad, Moliere seems to be suggesting in a tragicomical way that all humans are often guilty of such behavior. In fact, it is Alcestes failures to be intimate his own foibles that makes him so comical and his reaction to others hypocritical. Alceste is indignant and beliefless with others like Oronte, who writes a poem roughly his beloved Celimene. He fails to realize his jealousy makes him just as guilty of treating others poorly as does Philintes hypocrisy. He is a jealous lover. He is a jealous friend. And he is hard on all those or so him but himself. Moliere is maintaining this lack of self-perception may be mans tragedy but from it springs much of the humor and comedy in life. We see this humo r when Alceste maintains he would get rid of all those who wooed Celimene were he his beloved, Were I this lady, I would soon get rid / Of lovers who approved of all I did, / And by their slack mildness and applause / Endorsed my follies and excused my flaws (Moliere 68).In essence, Alceste endorses his own follies and excuses his own flaws. In conclusion, though there are definitely tragic elements that co-exist with the satire and comedy in Molieres The Misanthrope, overall the play is much more of a uproarious and funny comedy than it is tragic. Though lack of insight and self-perception may be a tragic contour of humankind, Moliere sees much more humor and comedy stemming from it.Work Cited Moliere, Jean Baptiste. What Are the Principle Strengths and Weaknesses of Nomothetic and Idiographic Approaches to Personality? Illustrate You Answer with at Least One Theory Associated with Each Approach.
This essay discusses the major strengths and weaknesses of nomothetic and idiographic approaches to reputation with the help of associated theories. Personality is defined as the psycho-physcial traits and mechanisms within an individualistic, influencing their interactions and adaptability to the environment. Nomothetic and idiographic approaches are two different methods used to provide an brain wave into and fall the voicelities of people. While both approaches are meant to further ones understanding of personality in different situations, in that respect are significant differences as well as advantages and disadvantages for, in addition to, for for each one one method as this essay will highlight. Falk (1956) defines the nomothetic approach as a method to illuminate the laws and principles that define expressions of a populace by interpreting general patterns which emerge, and the idiographic approach as an in-depth exploration of a issuing where the understanding achi eved is unparalleled and personalized to the individual. The nomothetic approach takes on the history repeats itself attitude as verbalised by Skinners radical behaviorism theory divulged by his experiments on rats, pigeons etc. (Smith and Woodward, 1996). The nomothetic approachs greatest strength lies in its ability to distinguish certain trait behaviors of a tribe or community. This is efficent in de shapeining an effective solution for individuals with identical behavior patterns based on the trait theory of personality.Cattells (1946) 16PF trait theories, large scale studies recorded as a scrape on a dimension is an example of nomothetic investigation of human personality by which an individuals personality is able to be described and generalized, as well as group behavior of same scoring individuals predicted. Research such as Milgrams experiment and the I. Q. test suggest nomothetic notions hold accepted for certain behavioral principals and can be used to a certain purp ose to generalize groups of people. The Big 5 theory in collaboration with nomothetic data is considered satisfactory to instance the features of personality. This method relies heavily on trait theories of personality to predict and establish behavioral personalities for a populace. On the other hand classification of a fact populace may not hold true for a particular individual due to specific individual traits and experiences suggests Gordon Allport (Nicholson, 2000). He stated that standardized examination would not be able to examine a greater part of an individuals personality traits thus it required condenseed and customized need and observation. While the nomothetic approach is relatively accurate to determine personality of general communities, it is shown to only propose surface principle behavior, not an accurate personality full point of a person. Moreover a bulky sample has to be chosen accurately to determine acclivitous patterns of behavior classification might no t be precise for all the people in that particular generalization. Another evident disadvantage is the classification of a person or people based on their result such as I. Q. which is show in certain situations to create bias among the society they are in.The idiographic approach is extremely focused on an individual under investigation and is mostly qualitative based as opposed to the quantitative nomothetic way. It is largely based on Freuds theories of consciousness, that each person has an I,D. , ego and super ego and that it is unique to that particular individual. The study is comprehensive and long term, play up a complete understanding of the subject such as Freuds explicit and long term clinical studies of his patients, catering to their specific needs and issues rather than a general assumption of their base persona (Gay, 1988).It is shown to be a more flexible and detailed study to gain valid knowledge about(predicate) the subjects being studied Piaget was also able t o unambiguously determine his childrens behavioral patterns and psyches (Auger and Rich, 2007). Idiographic approaches focus on the understanding of the structure of the mental i. e. the conscious, the unconscious and the preconscious such as George Kellys repertory football field technique in addition to Carl Rogers Q-sort procedure (Mcleod, 2007). Data gathered from idiographic research allows the creation of unique and effective treatments. The key advantage of this method is the treatment offered after research will be effectual as it has been tailored to suit the particular individuals problem. On the other hand the results derived from idiographic approaches are highly specific and cannot be generalized theyre based on a limited sample of the population along with unreliable experimentation which makes the data gathered useless to define general characteristics of a group. The development analyzed is unique to the particular individual being studied and does not hold true gl obally in which case it is considered unscientific by psychologists. In conclusion, era nomothetic and idiographic approaches to personality each have their advantages and disadvantages, it is evident that the type of method used would be based on what the researcher is severe to record. To distinguish a general law of similar characteristic personalities a large, accurate sample from a populace would need to be nomotheticly studied with correlation factors as well as psychometric scrutiny and other forms of quantitative research to drawn upon a fairly conclusive theory. While precise study of an individual, would use the informal, idiographic method to derive an acute understanding of their personality. The nomothetic approach to personality is in the first place supported by the trait theories of personality and idiographic approaches to personality are backed up by psychodynamic theories of personality. The main advantages these methods have is they are predominant in their own introspective fields of research while their main downfall poses as long as they remain standalone theories.
